A State-of-the-Art Data
Center The
SVTIX data center offers the ultimate computing environment to
keep your equipment up and running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our world-class facility is designed with 19 all new 20-ton Liebert
units for HVAC temperature control systems, a double inter-lock
pre-action fire system, redundant Uninterruptible Power Supplies
(UPS) and Power Distribution Units (PDU) as well as 24x7 secured
access. With over 80,000 square feet of conditioned space, SVTIX
can easily accommodate any and all of your telecommunications needs.
A secure,
strategically located site for your mission-critical computing assets
Silicon Valley Telecom & Internet Exchange is located at 250 Stockton Avenue
directly behind the San Jose Arena in the heart of Silicon Valley, with excellent
access to highways 101, 880, 87 and 85. It is 10 minutes from San Jose International
Airport and three minutes from downtown San Jose or the Cahill train station.
Our 94,700 square foot Telco-grade Internet facility, situated on approximately
2.9 acres, provides customers with access to over 14 major carriers and backbones
in a carrier-neutral environment. SVTIX is situated on the fiber networks of
more than ten major carriers, including four synchronous optical network (SONET)
rings. It is also within 6/10ths of a mile from MAE West, the MCI WorldCom-managed
west coast switch, or network access point (NAP), of the Internet. With close
proximity to the MAE, interconnect speeds are faster and companies can realize
significant fiber transfer cost savings by being located within the "last
mile" to this major interconnection point. In addition, SVTIX is situated
within a block of Pacific Gas & Electric’s downtown power substation,
delivering critical power redundancy.
22 million dollar Enron data center buildout
Our data center includes the 17,000 square foot former Enron co-location
and
data center. This was the largest facility of the company’s Broadband
Services division. This $22 million dollar custom-built facility -- designed
as a super
node -- offers specialized benefits, including a fully operational data center
with a $4.5 million Lucent Bandwidth Manager and four Sycamore 8000 units (two
Es and two Ts) valued at over $2 million. By acquiring this former Enron facility
at zero construction cost, we can deliver world-class facilities at phenomenal
rates.
A stronghold for your company’s
critical assets
Our facility is an impressively constructed building formerly designated
in the early 1960s as a Civil Defense Air Raid Bomb Shelter, offering
rock solid physical
security. This building boasts certified live loads of 150-200 lbs. psf., and
has withstood every earthquake since it was built in 1943 due to its outstanding
construction: steel-reinforced, poured-in-place concrete floors and walls and
extensive support columns. In addition, in 1999 SVTIX engaged in a $2.4 million
dollar retrofit for fire, handicapped, life safety and seismic upgrades. A
new Telco grade roof was also incorporated into the retrofit. The seismic
upgrades
were made to secure "Essential Services" designation by the San Jose
City building inspectors. 250 Stockton Ave. is designed to be the last building
standing in San Jose in the event of emergency. Constructed specifically as a
Telco hotel, the site includes abundant power, back-up diesel generators for
power redundancy, 14’ clear height ceilings and fully conditioned facilities. Building

SVTIX uses industry-leading technology such as Leibert UPS and PDUs for redundant
electrical power to all systems located in our data center. Each UPS can maintain
uninterruptible power to the data center for up to two hours at full load. The
facility is backed by a 1.5 megawatt diesel generator maintained weekly. The
generator has enough fuel to supply the data center with power for up to three
days at full load. Further, SVTIX has entered into an agreement with a fuel vendor
to supply diesel fuel at times of emergency |

Meet-me Rooms The SVTIX meet-me rooms (2) provide a tightly secured, conditioned environment
offering racks and cabinets for customer connectivity to their chosen carrier
and vice versa. These carrier-neutral rooms provide an exchange point for
facilitating Internet traffic. There are currently 14 carriers residing
in our meet-me rooms. All systems are redundant with full UPS backup and
a 1.5 megawatt diesel generator. Access and Security The SVTIX data center employs a keycard system for building
entry. Closed-circuit, IP-accessible video surveillance with tape backup
provides additional security. Back to the Top of the page
